Elite CoP Changes

1. Double tuck is now a D instead of a C. This is good news for me because my double tucks are better than my pikes.
2. The composition requirement for a turn on beam (worth .5) no longer has to be on one foot, according to The C Score it can even be in handstand. HECK YES! this is probably the most exciting change to me personally because i hate full turns.
3.The requirement that dance passages on floor consist of three elements has been removed. We’re back down to two.
4. Varga dismount removed from CoP

From C Score:

Difficulty-value changes:

* 4/1 turn on floor: D to E
* 2/1 turn with leg in scale (Memmel) on floor: C to D
* 2/1 turn with leg at horizontal on floor: C to D
* 2/1 Wolf jump on floor: C to D

I'm liking this!

what are your thoughts?

JO Code Changes for 2010

If you didn't know my beam coach, Neela Nelson, is part of the Women's Technical Committee. And I was trying to get some info out of her today so this is what I have.

Level 7's are restricted to A's and B's only
Level 8's are restricted to A's and B's as well? I just know that they cannot compete[on floor] 1.5 twists, double fulls, {on beam] switch leaps, straddle jumps, no back handspring layouts.
Level 9's vault start values increase, I know that a layout yurchenko is a 10.0 and a pike is around a 9.7-9.8. They are also restircted to A's B's C's and ONE D[neela fought for a long time to let them allow a D so everyone thank her]
SO my thoughts...

Level 7 stuff is fine its basically the same[i think]
Level 8- really disappointed. seriously no switch leaps? no double fulls? come on people
Level 9 the vault value thing seems like a good idea. but only ONE D????? that is so stupid, no room for originality, and it makes it harder to move up to level 10 where you are expected to have 2-4 D's.

So thats all i could get out of her.

She doesnt like this but she says its because they thought that the reason people were quitting is because gymnastics is too hard. PSHHHH!!!! what do they expect?

Thats all for now.

Wrist

Sorry for not telling you but I ruptured my growth plate in my wrist.

And let me tell you how hard it is to type with a brace on, like seriously.

OKay so the whole story is that on Tuesday Lisa put a new pass in my floor routine. Its a front handsping 1.5 twist[rudi] to a flic lay. I did a bad rudi and landed with my wrist under my head really hard and so yeah, the result is some time out of gym.

Sorry for the briefness, if you have any specific questions just message me on youtube.

some deep thinking?

Im really bored.
I missed gym today because of my wrist[ill explain laterrr]

Okay so today i came across this thing in my silly little head...

It seems as everything is chalky, but her heart.

Lets explore what this could mean.

1. So she puts all the hard work in, hence shes chalky, but her heart isn't into gymnastics.

2. SHes all beat up, like chaly and stuff, but her heart will never forget its love for gymnastics.'

what do you think it means?

have any other meanings??
then comment fool!

Poem

I had to write a poem about something that is a goal you may never achieve. I titled it Chalky Dream. I'm not a good poet and this is the first try at it. So don't be too harsh, if you have any nice suggestions just comment.

Chalky Dream

Cloudy and white

Yet still in sight,

Five colored rings,

Shine a light.

“Hard work will get you there”

They all say

But how can they be sure?

Because this goal is not obscure.

It’s a chalky dream,

Cloudy and white

That may hold a future so bright.

But when timing seems right

And you feel at a prime

You just may find

Hard work

will not be enough this time.

Strength Day

I guess I have forgotten to mention that every Friday is strength day at our gym. Isn't that just wonderful.

I hope you got the sarcasm there.

Well usually on friday we run for 30 minutes, then stretch, then do a whole butt load of abs[which kills!] then we break into 2 different groups based on dance ability. the 2 rotations are upper body and dance, and sometimes we do pliometrics. It makes ya reallllllyyy super duper sore and then you go home and come back the next day and can barely walk, hah.

Anyone [other that He Kexin=14] read this blog? I'm not sure if I should continue?

He Kexin=14, Sloan Update, Twilight

Woah [cookie dough hah]

I would personally like to thank Meredith from He Kexin=14 for making that post on me [: [Hey your extremely nice!]

And to get away from my usual journal style entries I'm just going to say that Bridget Sloan's coach has said that she wont be competing in any more competitions this year. I think this a good[yet very disappointing] choice because she really needs some downtime to left her body heal and get back into a mental state that will make her succeed.

And finally Twilight. I love love love the series [twilight, new moon, eclipse, and breaking dawn] and i cant wait for the movie.

I leave you today with a nice video of Stefani Catour, who recently came back from elite camp [and has been invited back in January][my coach wants me to go too eep.]

i would also like to add that this is very old! she is [yes even more] better now! She rocks and is such a great friend. [in case you didnt know, we go to the same gym [:]

peace out girl scouts.

ASU

Rocked. Sorry for not posting about this yesterday but I have a book log due tomorrow, yuckers.

News from asu.
1. Nicole Harris is back and as good as ever, trust me.
2.Well anyway for the early practice[12-3] we started on bars and did our sucky first halves. [which is kip cast hand, kip cast hand, clearhip handstand, stalder, toe circle] I really hate those...
3. The channel bar was amazing, I did yeagers there[sorta scary] but john spotted so all is well.
4. the video system is extremely amazingggggg and helped so much
5. Floor was extra bouncy.
6. Vault was suckish, had no tape measure so i didnt know where to start.[ahhh]
7. Beam was good, they are really nice and look newly padded.
8. Strength equipment is great. Had lots on balls, ab rollers, and things like that.
9. Trampoline was really nice, very bouncy.
10. Pit was perfect. I felt bad for getting chalk in it.

Peace.

Just

so you know that I give up a lot of sleep for gymnastics and homework and stuff. It's 11:35 right now and i am still not done with my math homework. Isn't that just great. and then Language arts!
grrrrrr

John Spini Gymnastics Center

Why I love it...

1. Channel Bar!!! This one of my favorites! its like you feel safe like your on a low bar but you can swing through like a highbar, and also it makes spotting easier!

2. Video System! This is probably the most helpful piece of technology. It is on delay so you can watch every turn after your done. It is so helpful.

3. Pit bar and pit vault. So the pit bar is a single high bar over the pit. It helps with the fear aspect and also is needed for new dismounts. The pit vault is just so helpful when you need to work upgraded vaults. For both of these you can put in mats but still have a safe situation!

4. Locker room! This is amazing!! Each gymnast has a locker with a nice big mirror in it that also has cubby holes in it and hooks and shelves and everything! I love it.

I cannot wait to workout here!!!!!!!

ASU to come...

Before I ramble on about today... I'm going to the ASU gymnastics center for gym tomorrow! I am so excited. Mainly because they have amazing equipment.

Okay today was an overall good day I guess. We started on bars, and since it's a tuesday we d[like our usual 4!] but yeah I worked double layouts and stalder shoots. Then on floor I had to rearrange my passes[which was really hard] so instead of going, double pike, triple full, front full, 2.5 I go triple full, double pike, front layout front pike, 2.5. It was really different but i got through it and my coach Lisa was happy. On beam I had a troubled day.. grr. I'm not too happy about it because i didn't get much accomplished. I really don't feel like talking about it but series was NOT good and dismounts were horrible! I am really upset.

Vault was the usual, pikes and layouts. BTW i am a horrible vaulter.. hah! maybe i could become a bars, beam and floor specialist. Yeah that sounds good right now...

Monday, October 27, 2008

oh yeahh

If you need to ask any questions just email me [: claire.hom@gmail.com

sound good??
and oh yeah

Im really nice [:

Obama Slogan Magical?

Okay, well right now I am super excited because Andrea who blogs on LBL Gymnastics,
actually looked at this blog! I was super excited. And she told me it would be a good idea to blog about my struggles and high points of being a level 10 gymnast. So this will be the first post around that topic.

. Well i have recently been struggling with some hip flexer issues and my elbow. I've been doing some physical therapy and stuff like that. And I haven't exactly been telling my head coach about this...[shh don't tell] Just mainly because right now she is making a film of my skills and stuff to send to Karoylis Camp[like junior team] in November. So I just didn't want to stop everything because of my injuries and stuff. Don't worry after camp ill tone it down a bit before competition season.

Well to explain the title today on beam we had 6 MADE full sets. Yeah I wasn't looking forward to that but my friend alegra[she was on the beam beside me] and before all of our routines we did a high five and said YES WE CAN! well yes i could and i made every single routine, which made me really happy because my monday beam coach neela nelson[national judge!!! she is such a good coach and is the reason why i love beam] is going to choose one of the kids from our group to give an olympic pin!!!! i am so excited! i really want it, but i have to work for it.

And just to clear this up, I'm not one of those people who are like oh i absolutely love beam, just to make them look "fearless" I admit to being scared a lot but i get over it because i know my coach wouldn't make me do it if i wasn't ready.

Im so excited for this episode!!
With Ed (Chuck) Leighton (Blair)

fo sho

Umm

I didn't even tell you guys what gymnasts are my favorite!!

in order.

1. Samantha Peszek, I'm not sure why I like her so much she just seems very real and hard-working. as you can see in her fluff piece No Glam Just Sam she is just like a normal teenager. I also love her mom, she is just so supportive.

2. Shayla Worley. I have always been a sucker for originality. Especially on beam. Even tho she fell a lot on her arabian she was amazing. I was so sad when i read her interview[which i cannot locate at the moment] when she was in tears after her broken leg. How the interviewer asked what are you going to do now, she said "I dont know". Poor girl, i still love her though.

3. Shawn. Shawn Johnson is just amazing! I love everything but her full-in dismount, which i dont know why but i never seemed to like. But she took on all the media and training and went to school as well. Go shawn.

4. Nastia. Liukin. I love her lines. And she is a fighter! I really felt for her in 2007 but she fought her way back to the top. I love you nastia! and anyway she totally deserved to win.

5. Mattie Larson. Her gymnastics is just beautiful! Her triple is amazing and she always had her bright smile! I really hope she goes into the next quad, she could do amazing things.

Oh Briley!

This girl is just amazing. Briley Casanova

she has really good form.

i wish i could do a full... those would be the days.

anyway be sure to check her out because she is quite amazing

Gymdogs

What does everyone think about their slogan All in for 10??

I personally would have preferred Defend for Ten as He Kexin=14 wrote.

Also it looks like A Train is having fun, journal

ps. A Train is Amber Trani.

Mattie!

Larson!!!
I love this girl, she is so cute [that weird to say because shes older than me but whatever]

I love how she said she had fun in the selection process![im not denying she had fun but its nice to know it was a good experience for her]

My friends

are awesome to say the least

Well this is a montage I made that stars: Kayla! Stefani! Arianna! and Me!

Stefani is the best of course.
